2017 - ISD - PRODUCT DESIGN/ IDENTITY/ PLV - TEAM WORK

5 MONTHS

Quechua, in order to develop their proposals for baby carriers suitable for hiking, asked us to imagine a flexible Quechua baby carrier and thus become lighter and more innovative.

During the creative phase, we made mock-ups in order to propose more coherent solutions. With the help of models and a baby manikin, real weight and scale, we retouched and selected 3 pre-concepts with different principles of use: The backpack with two functions and a second life. The reversible one, which brings a greater symbiosis between parent and child and the modular one, more secure and intuitive.

Finally, during development, we chose to combine the reversible and the modular to offer the best experience. In order to propose a convincing prototype, the Quechua brand invited us to come and make it in their workshops.

A use scenario consistent with the initial demand for innovation and the parents' desire to be as close as possible to their baby. (Watch the video of use)

The product is mainly made of cotton for the parts in contact with the baby, EVA foam for the straps and hips, to be more comfortable, and breathable 3D mesh, to stay cool during use.

Colours can influence 90% of the customer's choice in less than a second. We have therefore decided to offer 3 colours.

Following the Quechua trend called "Athlenic", we were inspired by China and Laotian symbols. We stylized them and created patterns.

The symbol of the turtle, which brings wisdom and longevity, the symbol of the three-legged toad, which brings luck and prosperity, and the fishing, which brings happiness.

Sales scenario adapted to the Décathlon shop and the expectations of their customers.

In order to offer Quechua an opening in terms of sales, we conceived a shop scenario. First of all, a gondola advertisement with the baby carrier in a situation that will attract the curiosity of parents and invite them to enter the department. This department is composed of different baby carriers and several posters that will allow an easy understanding of the product and help to project oneself in the context. The two mannequins help to understand that there are two ways to carry the baby. There is also a piece of furniture on which parents can test the product with their baby or using ballast. If necessary, they can ask a salesperson for advice or simply follow the explanations on the furniture.

Finally, customers will also be able to flash with their phone the QR code on the top poster to find out about the design, tests and reactions to the product and also find out what the composition of the product.
