Hikking Gourd

Personal project for Bodum brand

2018 - ISD - PRODUCT DESIGN - PERSONAL PROJECT- 2 WEEKS

The goal is to democratise the use of hot tea during hiking trips.

My research on tea consumption has shown that some nomadic peoples such as the Tuaregs drink hot tea for its moisturising qualities during long walks in the desert.

Bodum's Hikking Gourd is a nomadic thermos thermos with double insulating walls dedicated to amateur hikers. Its container allows you to bring your own tea or to collect it while walking. The strap allows hikers to open or close the gourd without the risk of losing the cork. The design of the spout has been redesigned to suit the time of use.

The choice of materials and colours is in line with Bodum's DNA but also with the environmental ethics of the hikers.

Stamped and welded stainless steel for the matt or lacquered central container, Bio plastic or recycled PP for the containers as well as its cap and a PP strap for good resistance and to perfect its nomadic object style.

New use for hikers, opportunity for a brand.

Bodum is a company specialising in the design of containers for hot drinks, such as tea and coffee. It is certainly one of the most appropriate companies to manufacture the first tea gourd for hikers.
